Enjoy Sunnyvale's Parks

Sunnyvale's park system includes 772 acres of parks and open space located in neighborhoods throughout the City. Many of our parks include picnic areas, playgrounds and sports fields or facilities.

Hours

Most neighborhood parks are open from sunrise to sunset, except where noted (details in Parks and Facilities Map).

Spray pools are open daily April through October from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Sunnyvale's summer aquatics program offers something for everyone: swim lessons, junior lifeguarding, special events, adult classes and recreational swimming for all ages.

Youth Aquatic Activities

Swim Assessments

Not sure what swim lesson level your child should enroll in? Come to a no-charge, five-minute assessment, conducted by the lifeguard on duty. Assessments only available during recreation swim hours (spring/summer) and are not required to sign up for a class.

Wear a swimsuit and goggles (if needed) and bring a towel.

Swim assessments have concluded for the season.

Swim Lessons (6 months to 15 years)

Classes for a range of skill levels are available, including:

  • Parent-and-tot classes for infants and toddlers and their parents or guardians
  • Water safety and basic strokes for beginners
  • Stroke improvement, endurance and survival skills for more advanced swimmers

Swim lessons have concluded for the season and will resume in the spring.

Junior Lifeguard (13 to 17 years)

Junior Lifeguard Training Class, offered at the beginning of swim season, teaches teens water safety and basic rescue skills.

The training is a prerequisite for the Junior Lifeguard Job Shadow course, where duties include assisting with swim lessons and helping protect swimmers alongside City lifeguards. Job shadow participants:

  • Gain confidence and leadership skills
  • Receive coaching and mentoring from City staff members
  • Earn up to 100 volunteer hours at the pool

Adult Aquatic Activities

Swim Lessons (16+ years)

Instruction is open to swimmers of all skill levels, from beginners to more advanced swimmers.

Lap Swim (18+ years)

Lap swim is available at the Sunnyvale Swim Complex beginning July 13. Appointments are required.

Lifeguard Training (15+ years)

Become a lifeguard this summer with the training and certification in lifeguarding, first aid and CPR needed for the professional rescuer.

Water Fitness (16+ years)

Our aquatic fitness classes offer low-impact workouts for a variety of fitness levels.

Aqua Zumba ® - Enjoy Latin dance-inspired moves adapted into a challenging aquatic workout.

Deep Water Exercise - Focus on cardiovascular fitness and endurance with fast-paced, high-energy moves in the deep end of the pool.

Water Exercise - Take part in a fun workout for all fitness levels. Water walkers or joggers welcome.

Note: Teens (13 to 15 years) may register along with a parent or guardian for Aqua Zumba and Water Exercise.

Adult aquatic activities have concluded for the season and will resume in the spring.

Seasonal Camps

Whether school's out for a break or the whole summer, our wide variety of full-day and half -day camps will keep all ages engaged, learning and having fun.

Winter Break Camps

Take winter break by storm with a variety of full-day and half-day camps for 5 to 12 years. Winter camps are offered during school breaks in December and February.

Spring Break Camps

Have spring fever? During spring break, ages 5 to 12 can learn new skills and enjoy the great outdoors at a range of full-day camps with extended care, as well as traditional, sports and STEM camps. Note: Gymnastics camp is open to ages 3 to 15.

Summer Camps

Camp offerings have been altered to provide a safe and fun atmosphere while following all local and state guidelines. We are excited to introduce Camp Sunnyvale!

Camp Sunnyvale will:

  • Feature arts and crafts, non-contact sports, games, S.T.E.A.M. projects and more. Groups will have a maximum of 12 campers (1:6 ratio)
  • Have a four-week session (same 12 campers entire session)
  • Dedicate four to six camp staff to each camp location (10 sites total, staff will not change between locations)
  • Include Extended Care (8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.) at no additional charge

With over 20 years in the business, our staff will work with you to find the event that best meets your goals, interests and budget. Choose from activities such as High Tech Scavenger Hunts, Team Challenge Sailing Regattas, Interactive Wine Blending and much, much more. The Adventure staff can take care of all of the event details as well as transportation, venue rentals and catering...and you can relax and have FUN!

Established in 1996.

Absolute Adventures was initially founded as an adventure club for the public in 1996. After a change of ownership in 2001, the company moved into the corporate team building space where much valuable experience has been gained and it has thrived over the years.

Carissa brings a professional energy and enthusiasm to Absolute Adventures which is simply contagious. Her interest in human performance dynamics began as a high level athlete at Stanford University. Carissa was a member of three NCAA National Champion Diving Teams and was individually the Spring Board National Champion, earning her a spot on the National Diving Team representing the US at the World Championships. She traveled far and wide and developed a passion for studying the way people perform...in athletics, in the work place, and in life. Lead by this passion, Carissa graduated from Stanford University with a BA in Communications & a MA in Sports Psychology. After gaining valuable experience at a soft skills training dot com, she decided to start Absolute Adventures following her true passions-working with people and helping them achieve their goals. For the past 16 years she has been striving to energize people and build stronger teams through unforgettable adventures.
